Batheaston Primary School

New Hall, Kitchen and Classrooms.

The contract value was £1.9m and contract period was June 2010 to September 2011.

The project involved the demolition of a number of existing school buildings to allow the construction of the new buildings whilst the school was operational. Initial enabling works included a temporary site access through an adjacent field consisting of a 1km temporary road and bridge as well as the provision of modular classrooms.

The works consisted of the construction of a new hall, kitchen and 3 classrooms together with refurbishment of an existing building to create a new reception and administration block.

The project was finished on time and to budget and to quote the Head Teacher ‘after working in schools for years they really understand our context and interests and are incredibly flexible and ‘can do’ about our requests’.

The project won the most commended prize for the Bath and North East Somerset Council building awards for public sector buildings – educational for 2011.
